About

wpid-wp-1437675098261.jpegHello!  And welcome to my little corner of the interwebs!

I’ve just overhauled my site, so there’s a totally new layout (that I’m excited about!) and other features my previous theme didn’t allow for.  I hope that this makes it a more enjoyable visit for you, my reader[s]. 🙂  Here’s a little bit about me:

I grew up in Colorado, went to El Paso, TX when I was in the Army. I wasn’t always fond of the city, but I ended up spending more than a decade there. I wanted to leave there for years, but the motivation just wasn’t fully there to turn my life upside down until I met a wonderful man in Pennsylvania, which is now the state I call home.

I’ve been writing short fiction since I was in high school, and I get a great deal of enjoyment out of crafting a world and creating a story that was just words in the ether before I put them on “paper.” I’ve recently been trying to do the weekly creative writing exercise prompt that Writer’s Digest has on their webpage, and when I complete them I’ll always post them here. You’ll also see a lot of my ramblings about the garden that my mom-in-law and I have, different life experiences, and occasional tales of my four-legged furry children.

Between this and working full time, I picked my book outline back up and hammer out the ugliest rough draft that National Novel Writing Month has ever seen. It’s going to be a painful revision process, not to mention long and drawn out as I figure out new ways to make their world fall into place.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my stories and rambling thoughts! I hope you enjoy them.

  1. Thanks for liking my blog post, Eliza. I’m new at this, so knowing that someone actually reads what I post motivates me to do more. And I like your layout. Still working on mine.

    1. Thank you for stopping by, Nancy! It took me a lil work to find a theme I liked on here when I started getting more serious about my blog. I’m glad you like it.

  2. Eliza, I’m glad I clicked on your name. Now I understand why you know so much about firearms and other topics you cover that I know little about. I also understand about being away from writing for years, then coming back to it. That’s also my story, and I must say the weekly prompts, story and poetry, have inspired me to write, write, write. Keep up the good work! Reatha

  3. Just found your site kind of round-about via Marge Cutter Tesch, and it looks like my kind of reading. I’ll be stopping by from time to time, and am looking forward to your posts.

  4. Some men
    never knew
    how much
    love
    could ever do
    until
    one day
    fortunately
    they met
    someone
    like you

    And so
    now
    they know
    why
    it’s just
    much more
    than
    any old
    said blessing
    to have you
    in his life
    is
    real-true love
    despite what
    ever happens.
