Clouds’ Greed

(From the Writer’s Digest Wednesday Poetry Prompt 322)

Clouds skip and stroll across the sky
Block out the sun’s rays
An offer
A tease
A whisper
Of rain—earth’s life giving drink
But soon moves away
Leaving, not a drop shared
With us
This hot, muggy day
