Missing

(From the Writer’s Digest creative writing prompt “Word Box”)

She was last seen at the Orange Kangaroo,
A posh event late at night
Emerald green gown and wrap.
Disappeared.

Cap’n Crunch. Yogurt. Beige liquid more cream than coffee.
Ron’s breakfast abandoned at a phone call.
All day at the scene,
Now enters the missing person report on his computer.
By the book—they want her found
Before she’s a ghost.

A tuxedoed man remains at large.
His face and hers on papers,
Stapled across town.
“Have you seen me?
Reward.”
